Not worth the trip. While I appreciate the attention that our "server" showed us with complimentary nan and being very pleasant about everything, the experience was something that I have to be insane to repeat. Their "buffet", and I use that term lightly, consisted of about 6 dishes that barely differentiated in taste from each other. I'm guessing the insects were also complimentary. Besides the four of us, the place was virtually empty, and I am not surprised. A place like this would do great in a better location and in a cleaner environment.
Spicy vegetarian cuisine and an offbeat setting highlight this quaint Indian eatery..
The Scene
An Indian video store that just happens to serve food. Less than half of the property acts as a proper restaurant--more a cafeteria than anything else. A long take-out counter divides the place's two personalities. A large TV playing the latest Indian releases looms over the front of the dining area. The service is casual and comforting, like visiting the house of an aunt who insists "You must eat!"
The Food
Delicious Indian vegetarian cuisine. Selections are served casually, on styrofoam platters and with plastic utensils. Portions are a touch on the small side, making it perfect for a light lunch. Hungry diners should take advantage the affordable menu items--most are under $5. Start with samosas--delicately fried dumplings stuffed with curried potatoes and peas. Then select one of the wonderful vegetable curries, which come with your choice of bread and rice. Or try the dosas, large rice-paper crepes filled with assorted vegetables. For a cheap date (approximately $11), order one of the Thali combination platters, which includes two entrees and a plethora of side dishes. Get some puri (Indian bread rounds) on the side and top off the meal with a dessert or two from the sweets counter.
