Everyone's Favorite. Wekiva Springs is a must for anyone who wants to see the natural side of Florida. We've had many visitors, and all of them are taken on a canoe trip down the river at Wekiva Springs, where more often than not, we see alligators sunning themselves on the shore while floating by. There are a lot of things to do and see in the Orlando area, but hands down, everyone who has come to visit us has enjoyed their canoe trip the most.
An ancient natural spring deep in Florida's central forest offers up pure water and backwoods sights to campers..
The Setting
Wekiwa is 7,000 acres of wilderness, all focused on an active spring, pumping 42 million gallons per day. Native Americans used it often. This is classic central Florida woodlands, with pine scrubs, hammocks, some marshy lowlands--although Wekiwa is in Florida, it is in the northern half of the state, so the landscape is southern, but not sub-tropical.
The Facility
Wekiwa Springs has campsites with both water and power hook-ups. Sites can be used for RV, trailers and tents. Showers are available. Grills serve every campsite. Handicapped-accessible picnic areas and restrooms are also available. The park has canoe rentals and changing rooms for swimmers.
