Brown-bag your own meal.
Was there with a group recently. We actually like each other, and so hoped to be able to have a bit of conversation. Unfortunately, the music was so loud one could hardly hear oneself think, let alone hear the wait staff as they delivered food.
I've not had such a marginal meal in a long time. Figured the jambalaya would be a safe bet, certainly safer than crawfish etoufee. It was bland, uninspiring, mostly starchy rice.
I have one good thing to say. The beer was tasty enough. I guess these folks live off a transient audience where they don't need to worry about returns. I certainly won't.
Popular outdoor bar attracts fashionable Central Florida sect..
The Scene
CityWalk's Pat O'Brien's, a branch of the popular New Orleans chain, is set in an open courtyard that brings to mind the excitement of New Orleans and the coziness of Madrid in one shot. It's a beautiful outdoor setting.
The Draw
Sit at iron tables and deck chairs and choose from a multitude of views: from the clear night sky to people drinking on the balcony above you to the many fountains that mix fire and water into a hypnotic spectacle. Don't feel like being outside? The front portion of the bar features an indoor area highlighted by a duo of piano players, who duel it out nightly. Be warned: it gets pretty crowded inside.
Absolutely Crazy Time. Everytime we go to Pat O's we sing until we lose our voices and we have an absolutely crazy time. I live about 4 minutes away and we bring all of our visiting friends there, all of them will say it is the best bar they have ever been to.
Not NO, but still good. Mistake number one is comparing the Orlando POB with New Orleans. The crowd from Univeral's Citywalk is completely different than Bourbon Street. That said, they did try to recreate many of the same elements. The outdoor patio has similar traits -- flaming fountains -- but this one isn't the focal point like the fountain in NO. Dueling pianos are entertaining but didn't seem to get cranking until much later in the evening.
