If you like your rollercoasters fast and furious, and your stomach calm and collected, then Kraken is the thrill ride for you.. The Background According to Norwegian folklore, Kraken was a sea monster (resembling a giant squid) that was part octopus and part crab. It would attack sea-faring vessels, capsize them, then chomp down on the seamen. Yum! Yum!
The Facts Kraken (the roller coaster) coasts along a 4,177-foot track, propelling riders up to a maximum height of 15 stories, then plummeting 144 feet at a speed of 65 mph, followed by seven inversions (including a zero-gravity roll and cobra roll). After the customary slow climb to start things off, Kraken teases the tummy with a small dip, then plunges straight down at a rocketing 65 mph before racing through a 119-foot vertical loop. The experience definitely gets the heart racing. If you're wearing sandals that aren't secure around your tootsies, take them off and sit on them ... or else you'll feel the wrath of Kraken's chops.
