Editorial Review for Univeral Studios CityWalk – by Eyal Goldshmid
Overview
Located between Universal's two juggernaut theme parks, CityWalk houses tons of top-notch restaurants, specialty shops, dance clubs and music halls. Admission to the complex is free, though specific clubs and bars carry a cover. You can experience all sorts of entertainment, including street performers, block parties and music just by roaming through the streets.
The Appeal
Almost every restaurant features some sort of live music nightly such as R&B at the Motown Cafe and calypso and reggae at Bob Marley's. Hard Rock Live gets some big-name national acts and is easily one of the best live venues in Central Florida. The 20-screen Loews Cineplex provides one of the most comfortable movie experiences in town. CityWalk hosts a number of events, including restaurant tastings, beer and art festivals.

Ok, as a visitor every few years, one of my favorite destinations is Orlando's Citywalk. Typically this kind of place ain't my thing, but for some reason, I enjoy the grand open space of the Citywalk for dining and people watching. I personally skip the stores as they all seem aimed at cheese or else are way overpriced for merchandise you can get elsewhere. But grab a latte and park yourself down in the sun and it's perfect for soaking in that most interesting of animals, humans. Nearby (read, attached) are some great amusement parks too...go for Islands of Adventure to avoid the bore. Hard Rock Cafe across the lagoon won't steer you wrong either for a hearty American meal. Only downsides are the parking and the fact that this place is in the middle of bonking nowhere.
Pros: Sun sun sun
Cons: Sometimes TOO many people to watch

Not entirely free. You have to pay $7.00 to park in the parking garage in order to even get to the CityWalk. Not exactly free, now, is it?
Pros: lots of shops, great restaurants, great concerts
Cons: expensive to park, staff not friendly, merchandise is pricey
